12 Sep 2008 - Pink News and Toiletgate - update

Pink News ran a story a couple of weeks after Toiletgate, 'revealing' that the trans protestors were violent. This mistaken report was based on the first Met Police/Pride statement.

Since then, the truth has been revealed by Commander Allen's second statement which stated that the trans protestors did not push the security guards. It is a shame that Pink News have not published a story correcting their story. Some people in the LGBT communities (including some trans people) STILL think that the trans protestors were violent.

We cannot allow this demonisation/slander of the trans people to go unchecked.

Pink News think that this is an old story which no one is interested in anymore. Pride have stated that they will confirm this retraction if asked but not initiate further discssion

Perhaps, if enough of us viewed the story, left comments at the bottom of the story or even emailed the news desk, they would see that the issue is still important and they would publish the truth about this abuse of trans people.
